NOTICE OF ADOPTION OF RESOLUTION No. 25-27
ADOPTING PRIVATE ROAD APPLICATION MORATORIUM
WEBSTER TOWNSHIP | WASHTENAW COUNTY, MICHIGAN
At a regular meeting of the Township Board of Webster Township (“Township”),
Washtenaw County, Michigan, held at the Webster Township Hall on the 15th day of July 2025, at 7:00 p.m., Eastern Daylight Time.
The following resolution was offered by Brovont and supported by Harms:
WHEREAS, the Township of Webster (the “Township”) is amending its Private Road Ordinance to address, inter alia, public safety concerns, costs and maintenance, and reconstruction of existing private roads; and
WHEREAS, individuals applying for a certificate of zoning compliance for development on vacant lots fronting on noncompliant private roads or shared driveways cannot obtain such compliance or a building permit without satisfying all current Township ordinances; and
WHEREAS, individuals applying for a land division on vacant lots fronting on noncompliant private roads or shared driveways cannot obtain such compliance without satisfying all current Township ordinances; and
WHEREAS, under Section 5 of the Ordinance, certain parcels, roads, or private driveways were excepted from Ordinance provisions and parcels are now abutting noncompliant roads or shared driveways; and
WHEREAS, excepted parcels, existing shared driveways and private roads that do not comply with the Township’s Private Road Ordinance standards present substantial public safety issues.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE WEBSTER TOWNSHIP BOARD RESOLVES: Effective
immediately, there is a ninety-day (90) day moratorium through October 13, 2025 in place on the Township accepting any new road permit applications for existing noncompliant private roads or shared driveways.
