NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARINGS

SALINE TOWNSHIP PLANNING COMMISSION

Tuesday, September 2, 2025, 7:00 p.m.

Notice is hereby given that the Saline Township Planning Commission will hold public hearings at the meeting above to take comment proposed amendments to the Saline Township Zoning Ordinance to establish new and additional standards for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Solar Energy Systems (SES), and Wind Energy Systems (WES) as follows:

1. Amend Section 4.02, Table of Permitted Uses by District to allow small-scale accessory BESS, SES, and WES equipment in all zoning districts, and to allow Utility-Scale BESS, SES, and WES facilities as special uses in the A-1, Agricultural-Conservation, the I-1, Industrial-Research District, and the PSP, Public/Semi-Public Services District.
2. Repeal the existing Section 11.09, Solar Energy Systems.
3. Repeal and re-adopt Section 11.10 with the title of Energy Systems and Facilities that includes standards for small-scale and utility-scale BESS, SES, and WES.
4. Amend Section 18.02, Definitions, to redefine essential services, public utilities, and private utilities to account for BESS, SES, and WES.

Any person having interest in said Hearing or their duly appointed representatives shall there and then be heard at the above described meeting or adjournment thereof relative to any matters that should come before the Planning Commission.

Written comments regarding this proposal should be directed to the Saline Township Clerk at Saline Township, 4254 Arkona Road, Saline, MI 48176.

Saline Township will provide necessary reasonable auxiliary aids and services, such as signers for the hearing impaired and audio tapes of printed materials being considered at the meeting, to individuals with disabilities at the meeting/hearing upon ten (10) days notice to Saline Township.  Individuals with disabilities requiring auxiliary aids or services should contact Saline Township by writing or calling the Saline Township Clerk at 734-429-9968.
