ORDINANCE NO. 2025 – 03

AN ORDINANCE SETTING THE WATER AND SEWER RATES EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2025

At a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Dexter, County of Washtenaw, State of Michigan, held on the 9th day of June, 2025, 7:00 PM Eastern Time.

MEMBERS PRESENT: Aldag, Hubbard, Popov, Schlaff, Semifero, Tell, Keough

MEMBERS ABSENT: None            

The following Ordinance was offered by Council Member Aldag and supported by Council Member Popov.

The City of Dexter hereby ordains:

Section 1:        SEWER RATES

      Ready to Serve Monthly Fee                                    $13.34

      Per 1,000 Gallons                                                      $16.41

Section 2:        WATER RATES

      Ready To Serve Monthly Fee                                   $10.86

      First Meter Per 1,000 Gallons                                   $4.89

      Second Meter Per 1,000 Gallons                              $6.61

Section 3:        RUBBISH RATES

      Residential Rubbish Monthly Fee                            $30.50

      Commercial Rubbish Rate                                        Contracted Rate + 3%

Section 4:        OTHER CHARGES AND PENALTIES

      Penalties on Late Charges                                         2% Cumulative

      Turn-on and Turn-off Charges                                  $35

      Meter Calibration Charge                                         $35

      Water Only Meter 1-inch                                          Actual Cost

Section 5:        EXTRA STRENGTH SURCHARGES/INDUSTRIAL COST RECOVERY

            Extra Strength Surcharges:                            

                        BOD in excess of 300 mg/l                             $1.26/pound

                        Suspended solids in excess of 275 mg/l          $0.45/pound

                        Phosphorous as P in excess of 12 mg/l           $9.34/pound   

            Industrial Cost Recovery:

                        Water usage in excess of 22 gpepd                $0.56 per 1,000 gal.

                        BOD in excess of 300 mg/l                             $1.26/pound

                        Suspended solids in excess of 275 mg/l          $0.45/pound

                        Phosphorous as P in excess of 12 mg/l           $9.34/pound

Section 6:        Effective Date

This Ordinance shall take effect upon publication as required by Section 15.12 of the City of Dexter Charter.
